Smilow Cancer Center at Yale University, New Haven, CT Yale-New Haven's new 14-story, 497,000 sf, $420 million Smilow Cancer Hospital, located in downtown New Haven, will offer patients state-of-the-art care and treatment. It will house 112 inpatient beds, outpatient treatment rooms, expanded operating rooms, infusion suites, diagnostic imaging services, therapeutic radiology, and a specialized Women's Center (Gynecologic Oncology and Breast Center). Due to the project's complexity, the coordination has been done using 3-D CAD and a cumulative clash detection approach that all trades have participated in, with Harry Grodsky & Co., Inc as the gatekeeper. By completion, coordination will have taken an astounding 20 months. Also, because of the tight quarters of the city jobsite, offsite fabrication and just-in-time deliveries are critical and we are fabricating more than 90% of all materials for the job at our fabrication facility in Springfield, MA.
