 Springfield Museums, Springfield, MAHarry Grodsky & Co., Inc.'s relationship with the Springfield Museums goes back well more than 20 years, and we have performed numerous projects for them in that span. Roughly ten years ago, we assisted the Museum Association in upgrading the existing mechanical systems in their Museum of Fine Arts on a Design Build basis. The purpose of the project was to obtain the necessary temperature and humidity levels which would allow the display of traveling exhibits. Since that successful project, Design Build has been the only way to go at the Museums. Recently Harry Grodsky & Co., Inc. was the Design Build mechanical contractor for the construction of the new Springfield Transportation Museum. This project is a great example of the effective reuse of an existing building, converting an old 30,000 sf building into an exhibition and archive space with all new mechanical systems and strict temperature and humidity controls. |
