Foxwoods Resort & Casino, Combined Heat & Power Plant, Ledyard, CT
Harry Grodsky & Co., Inc. was part of a project team that successfully completed a $34 million upgrade of the existing central plant to a new cogeneration facility for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. Two 10,000HP gas-fired jet engines were installed with the purpose of converting natural gas into electricity and steam. The new system is capable of generating fifteen megawatts of power, which will satisfy roughly 60% of the electricity used by all of Foxwoods Resort & Casino. Additionally, the heat recovery steam generator system is capable of producing 80,000lb/hr of steam, which can heat and cool all of Foxwoods.
